Alice Booklet Something Strange !

It is now widely reported and known that the 1st class Machins from the Alice in Wonderland customised booklet shows M15L with code C, or do they?

I thought my eyes were deceiving me when I enlarged the picture of this item currently  for sale on eBay. The codes clearly show up as MA12 /MAIL on this item.

What ever is going on I thought to myself? I then double checked and then triple checked the listing just in case I had been going though a senior citizen moment (it has been known). No I assured myself I am still perfectly sane.

This booklet could be a reprint or a mock up of the actual booklet, I can not see it as a one off error.

Please check it out, your comments are very welcome.

This book is on sale on the Royal Mail eBay page. It is obviously a mock-up as RM never (well, 99% of the time) actually shows REAL stamps (just look at the Philatelic Bulletin!) Their image on eBay of the Smilers mini sheet shows the stamps with no ellipses and with the incorrect details (barcode, stock code and the DLR FSC Code when the sheet was printed by Cartor!). Likewise their 'publicity' image of the forthcoming Prestige book Machin pane shows the 81p stamp in the 'correct' colour and the codes on the 1p and 2p stamps are not only MA12 (as on Alice) but also MRIL, suggesting these stamps come from coils.

Thanks Robert for your detailed explanation.

I did not look who the seller was at the time, as you say Royal Mail use mock up pics on many products.
