GB OLYMPIC GOLD MEDAL WINNERS

I have been glued to my television set for the last week cheering on team GB in the London 2012 Olympics.

We had a slow start at the beginning but Team GB has fared much better in recent days with golds, silvers and bronzes coming out of their ears. I was not worried, as I knew they would come " Honest"

To make things even better Royal Mail have started to introduce the Gold Medal Winners stamps, to date as I write we have 10 gold medal winners with a promise of more to come over the following week.

Helen Glover and Heather Stanning in the cox less pair, and Bradley Wiggings started the ball rolling, with the second Gold Medal of the day Bradley claimed a British record, his 7th Olympic medal with a sensational gold in the men's cycling time trial. Much more to come on these stamps, I will deal with the rest of the Team GB winners at the end of of the post.

I have to say the stamps are a refreshingly good design, they will make a nice set when complete. The winners, to go with the well earned gold will most definitely want this set of stamps as a memento . They (and many other sport enthusiasts) may even be tempted to take up stamp collecting after the games finish.

I do not want to repeat what has already been reported., so a special mention goes to Ian Billings who is keeping us up to date with the GB gold medal winners, he has shown all the gold medal stamps to date. They are in a word BRILLIANT. My own personal favorite (to date) is that of Katherine Grainger and Anna Watkins who won gold in the women's double sculls final.

Many thanks for the up to date information on the new winners stamps and well done Ian for the great images. Not that I wish a bucket load of work on you, but I do hope you have a real busy week, showing many many more gold winners stamps over the coming days.

Read Ians reports and see the other winners stamps click here http://norphil.blogspot.com.

In the meantime I have just heard another terrific roar , sounds like another Gold, I am getting back to my TV.

Catch yuz later.

Thanks for the mention, Roy.

All credit for the images and speed of availability goes to Royal Mail and their image library, and web people.

Not only do they tell us immediately a medal is won, but they also give a timeline for when the image will be available, and they haven't let us down on that yet.

From your position you will not be aware that these are selling very quickly at many POs. We hope there will be more deliveries of the already issued stamps as well as any more!
