Errors From The Past

Dont you just love the good old days when you could pick up stuff from over the post office counter for next to nothing? Sorry to say but those days are long gone now. However, you can still pick up quality stamps from days gone by if you are prepared to pay that little bit extra.

This is a nice perforation error spotted on eBay, and it is attracting a lot of attention.  A block of eight 9p x SG 822 bi-coloured Machin stamps with a desirable major perforation error.  This block also shows the old type (square) colour registration marks in the right hand margin.

Although the stamps above may run up to £35 -£40. If you are on a budget you can opt for something a little less expensive.

Something different to the run of the mill always gets my attention. So my second pick for today is this.

It is not exactly an error, I would say more of post office waste, but nice just the same. Best of all this will not break the bank. It can be nicked for a couple of pounds. It will also be a nice addition to a more modern Machin collection.

Described as a self adhesive strip of Post and Go blank Machin labels with the code MA15.  OK not a rarity but you never know it might also be worth a few quid in years to come. It will also add interest to an album page.

Worth a punt? I do not collect self adhesives, but if I did I would say yes.

I'd tend to agree with you but the current price is £57 after 21 bids...
